How not to Collect Rent in Leighton, Alabama
The mayor of Leighton, Al has now been charged after allegations of criminal solicitation.
Leighton mayor Lawayne Harrison faces two counts of criminal solicitation. The mayor was recorded by Melissa Grimes, who rents a piece of commercial property from the mayor. It is reported that the mayor suggest that they don’t have to engage in sex, but to have what he calls, “mutual masturbation”; exact words being cleaned up for this writing.

Two victims filed charges with the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s office Wednesday afternoon.
“An example needed to be made and let people know they can’t get away with this type of thing,” said victim Melissa Grimes.
“He is being summoned to court, this is a routine procedure in a misdemeanor case. The magistrate has an option to arrest versus summoning in this case. We chose to summons, rather than arrest him,” said Chris Connolly, Lauderdale County District Attorney. “We’ve had a magistrate determine there is probable cause to believe he is guilty of what he is charged with and we’ll present it to the court and expect he’ll be convicted.”
The charges Harrison is accused of are all misdemeanor charges, and carry up to six months in jail on each count.

ITS A SHAME THAT THE CITIZENS OF LEIGHTON HAVE TO FEAR FOR THERE WIVES AND DAUGHTERS TO GO TO THE CITY HALL TO PAY BILLS. FOR THE FEAR OF BEING SEXUALLY HARASSED BY THE MAYOR LAWAYNE HARRISON, AND KNOW WE ARE TOLD THAT THE MAYOR IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE SCHOOL PROPERTY. WE THE CITIZENS OF LEIGHTON FEEL THAT THIS MAN SHOULD RESIGN HIS OFFICE IMMEDIATELY! HE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF AND HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR HIS WIFE AND FAMILY, AND WE THINK ALL CITIZENS OF LEIGHTON SHOULD SHOW UP FOR ALL CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND SHOW THERE CONCERN.

summer empolyee harassed by mayor but eeoc to investigate so voters and tax payers. the city will be paying for his harassing this time.I would just like to ask all the citizens to come out to council meeting. Maybe if we all stand together we can get something done.
