Streetsboro, Ohio Mayor Tom Wagner

The Mayor of Streetsboro, OH apparently likes to speak his mind. Sometimes that can get you in trouble though. Two women in Mayor Wagner’s office have filed sexual harassment suits against the Mayor, stating that he made inappropriate comments about them while working at City Hall as a clerk. One of the ladies, Chris Gomula, a 36 year old single mother of four, said that the Mayor would make remarks about her breasts on a daily basis.

She is now being laid off at the end of the month. She said that she is being laid off because she told lawyers from the firm of Walter and Haverfield about her dealings with the Mayor. They were hired by the city council to investigate the Mayor after allegations surfaced by other women at City Hall.

She has since filed charges with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission against the mayor for sexual harassment and retaliation.

“I’m a little upset because when I started here I said I don’t want to be in the politics of city hall. I just wanted to come here, do my job and support my kids,” she explained.

Brandi Klein, public affairs officer for the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, says that they have up to a year to investigate this case. Typically though it takes, on average, four to six months.

No criminal charges have been filed against the mayor.
