A mayor ousted from office as a result of pending child sex abuse charges and a previous conviction has lost his bid for a change of venue. Lino Donato appeared in court claiming excessive media coverage might influence a jury against him, but the request was denied. No trial date has yet been set.
Donato, who pleaded guilty to indecency with a child charges in 2007, was removed from office in September 2008 following his arrest and subsequent absence from three consecutive City Council meetings.
He was indicted in mid September on aggravated sexual assault, indecency with a child and attempted indecency with a child charges.
You never know about a person. It seems the worst people who commit these sins and crimes are people in authority. The one thing that I think about when I read one of these stories is the amount of pain and torture that that person will endure while in prison. I have said it time and time again, that their hell hasn’t even begun….
